Something Old, Something New…

With the 1 year anniversary fast approaching, I wanted to celebrate by giving you all a peek inside the best day of my life, my wedding day!

My husband and I met in high school, started dating at the young age of 16, and have been together ever since! He is my support system, my best friend, and also my blog photographer : ). I am SO lucky to have found him at such a young age and blessed to get to share in all of life’s wonderful moments with him! I can’t wait to see what the years ahead will bring!

I hope you enjoy your peek into the details of our amazing day!

As you can imagine, shopping for my wedding gown was something I was REALLY looking forward to but I was also so nervous! My mom and I set out one day to just “take a look around.” Naturally, I absolutely fell in love with the first dress I tried on! I tried on 3 or 4 more dresses after that (only because the sales associate made me!), but we both knew the first one was it! I will never forget how I felt that day, I am so lucky to have shared that moment with my Mom! Gown:“Bernadette” by Maggie Sottero (Blushing Bride Boutique)

Since I was a little girl I knew I wanted my “something blue” to be on my feet. Seeing Ms. Carrie Bradshaw pull it off only made me want to do it that much more! Shoes: “Jeannie” by Badgley Mischka(Nordstrom)

The most important part of my bouquet was incorporating hydrangeas, they are the national flower of the Azores where my parents are from. I also incorporated the rosary beads my mom gave me as a child, which feature a relic of her patron Saint, Our Lady of Lourdes. These were subtle details not many people knew about, but they meant a great deal to me on that day! (All Flowers: Celia’s Flower Studio)

The Bridesmaids wore navy gowns and carried bright green bouquets, once again incorporating Hydrangeas! (Bridesmaids Dresses: Davids Bridal)

For the ceremony we had the seats arranged in a semi-circle so our family and friends were close to us!

My handsome Groom wore a classic black Tux with a white shirt, vest, & tie. We both wanted to look timeless and classic. We didn’t want to look back in 20 years and think “GOD, what were we wearing?!” Tux: Men’s Warehouse

Our place cards were Boston Subway tickets and our table numbers were various Subway stops in Boston, where we both went to college. This was another fun way for us to incorporate personal touches! I have always loved the idea of a “going away dress” to end the night with. For our last dance I changed out of my gown and slipped into something a little more comfortable with this “I Love You” Lace dress from Lulu’s! (it also gave me the chance to show off my killer shoes!)
